Bellevue, WA -- A day after comparing constituents of his who might want to attend a town hall meeting and express their opposition to government-run health care to Nazi stormtroopers, Congressman Brian Baird calmed down, took a deep breath, and today compared them to domestic terrorists. Baird told The Columbian, in describing why he cancelled town hall meetings in his district during the August congressional recess, that he was concerned about behavior “reminiscent of the kinds of things that drove Timothy McVeigh to bomb the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995.” WSRP Chairman Luke Esser offered the following statement:

“Brian Baird just can’t stop himself from insulting his constituents who are concerned about the runaway costs and bureaucracy that would result from the government-run health care bills under consideration in Congress. Yesterday they were Nazi stormtroopers, today they are domestic terrorists, what terrible name will Baird call them tomorrow? It must be tough for Baird to represent a group of people for whom he is so contemptuous. Just imagine the names that Baird will call his constituents after he knuckles under and votes for whatever government-run health care bill Nancy Pelosi tells him to support.”
