Weekly Update: Republican Resurgence Rally on July 10!
by Luke Esser

Chairman's Corner

Republican Resurgence Rally!
Join The Man Of Steele on Friday, July 10

Now that President Obama's allies are rolling out their plans to raise taxes and to assume government control of your health care, it's more important than ever for Republicans to stand up and fight for the principles of fiscal conservatism and limited government that are the foundation of our party. That's why we are holding an important event and have recruited a major national speaker to inspire us.

I'm thrilled to announce that RNC Chairman Michael Steele is coming to headline our "Republican Resurgence Rally" in Bellevue on Friday, July 10. Chairman Steele is a former FOX News commentator and former Lt. Governor of Maryland, and a Republican with real grassroots experience. He served as the Chairman of the Maryland Republican Party and before that was the Chairman of his local county party.

Chairman Steele has emerged as a visible leader challenging the disastrous economic policies of President Obama and the Democrats. Chairman Steele knows these plans will not work and is imploring Republicans to mount fierce opposition to Obama's government takeover of Americans' health care and the nationalization of industries.

Our "Republican Resurgence Rally" will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10. The cost to attend is just $25, and I am proud that we've kept the cost low to make the event affordable for all. Click here to view details and register to join what will no doubt be a throng of vocal, spirited Republicans.

The first 100 paid guests will receive a free Republican tote bag, and everyone who pays by July 4th will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to our VIP Reception immediately preceding the rally.

The Host Committee for the event includes Attorney General Rob McKenna, Secretary of State Sam Reed, Congressman Dave Reichert, Senate Republican Leader Mike Hewitt, and House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt, and we expect hundreds of Republicans to gather together at this important moment in our nation's history.

I hope you can join us July 10th to hear Chairman Steele's remarks, and help us send a message to the Democrats that we will not sit on the sidelines and let them run this country into the ground with higher taxes, more spending, more debt, and more government interference in our everyday lives. This is an important event for our party, and I hope you will make every effort to attend.

Sincerely,

Chairman Luke Esser

A Rose By Any Other Name...
Working at Congressman Jim McDermott's (D-Baghdad) office can get to you after awhile. Not only are people always calling to gripe about the far-left congressman's latest wacky idea, but sometimes tactless people trying to get an appointment dare to call you by a common shortening of your name. That sort of thing can really wear you down.

How else to explain this angry, unintentionally hilarious e-mail string set off by Congressman McDermott's scheduler to someone who presumed to call her "Liz." Rather than simply correct an innocent mistake, this staffer used her power as gatekeeper to a congressman to harass and lecture the poor person over and over and over again. To top it off, the taxpayers pay her a salary of over $109,000 while she flips out over minor incidents. It's a potent reminder that the adage "power corrupts" doesn't just apply to elected officials. But elected officials can be pretty picky about that too, just ask Barbara Boxer - if you dare.

ABC Won't Air Ads Disagreeing With Obama's Health Care Plans
We've been saying it for decades: the mainstream media favors the Democrats. Over the last two years they've taken it to new heights, pouring forth outright adulation for Barack Obama. Media types always dismiss the accusation, saying either it's not true or that it doesn't matter anyway. Now we get word ABC will air a health care panel discussion with President Obama, but they won't allow Republicans or anyone opposed to the president's radical government takeover of health care to buy advertising time and give their viewpoint. Given the massive effect of Obama's plan (author Robert Samuelson calls it "naive, hypocritical, and dishonest") Americans need to hear from the opposition. ABC must reconsider its "longstanding policy" to ensure the special isn't just White House propaganda.

State Revenues Drop Again, Democrat Budget Teetering
Democrats aren't very good at managing expectations. Or the state budget. One great promise to live by is never overpromise and underdeliver, but the Dems in Olympia never seem to take that one to heart. Despite Republican warnings that the Democrats' spending plans were unsustainable and that the next downturn would lead to massive cuts, Democrats still spent like drunken sailors. The sour economy tamped down their expectations, just not low enough. This week: another revenue report, another drop in tax collections. Now wouldn't it have been better if they hadn't spent all that money in the first place?
