100 Days In & The Worst Is Yet To Come
Help Us Fight Back Against Obama's Liberal Agenda
We've now survived 100 days of the most far-left national government in American history. But the worst is yet to come.
The spending desires of the Obama Administration and the Democrats in Congress require more money than they can squeeze from you and me, so they're mortgaging our children's and grandchildren's futures to implement their grand liberal vision.
President Obama is determined to increase the size, cost and power of government at the expense of the private sector. His administration now owns one automotive giant and is forcing another to be sold to foreign ownership. Did America vote for that?
Were voters last fall clamoring for $3.5 trillion budgets? Did they ask for the national deficit to triple over the next 10 years? That's exactly what this administration and this Congress are delivering.
It is more critical than ever for Republicans and other concerned citizens to join together to fight the astronomical government spending and debt, and the headlong sprint toward a European-style social welfare state.
This Friday, May 1st, we're joining up to say to President Obama and the Democrats in Washington, D.C. and Olympia, "Not in our name."
Please join us at the Bellevue Hilton for the 27th Annual WSRP Gala Dinner Auction. It's an opportunity to meet like-minded Republicans with a positive vision for America, one that emphasizes personal freedom, opportunity, and a government that knows its proper role.
This year's Gala Dinner Auction features Attorney General Rob McKenna, Republican legislative leaders fresh from their victories against Democrat tax increases, and includes a Special Salute to Dino Rossi. The cost is $100 ($25 less than last year).
You can RSVP by clicking here, or call Anitra Beruti at our headquarters (425.460.0570). If you are unable to join us, you can also support the cause by sending a contribution to our secure website.
I hope you can join us this Friday. The Left kept reminding us during the Bush years of the importance of dissent. Let's show them how true that is, and how much fun we can have doing just that.
Sincerely,
Chairman Luke Esser
Hastings Calls On Obama To Develop American Energy Sources
Congressman Doc Hastings has long advocated for increasing our nation's energy independence by developing more domestic energy sources so we can reduce our reliance on imports. Be sure to read Hastings' recently penned column pointing examples of President Obama's verbal sleights-of-hand on energy policy. Obama talks about energy independence but throws up roadblocks to developing new energy sources. Thank you, Congressman Hastings, for holding the president accountable on this important subject.
Gregoire's Special Session Not In State's Best Interest
Gov. Gregoire is poised to call legislators back to Olympia for a special session to pass some pretty dubious bills the Democrats couldn't complete during the regular session. House Republican Leader Richard DeBolt blasted the plan, especially a bill that would cut funding for rural school districts around the state. Rep. Skip Priest has a creative shorthand for the Democrats' bill: "Robin Hood's nemesis."
Reichert's New Opponent Votes, When She Has Time For It
As Suzan Delbene, the latest Democrat to line up against Congressman Dave Reichert, asks District 8 citizens for their votes, she's asking them to do something she frequently couldn't be bothered to do. Voting records reveal DelBene didn't vote in nine elections since 2005, skipping out on the democratic process time and again. She can spin this all she wants, but voters are left to wonder if DelBene is serious enough to represent them in Congress.
