State GOP Unanimously Re-Elects Hutchison As Chairman

BELLEVUE, WA, January 19 – The Washington State Republican Party (WSRP), meeting this past weekend in Skamania County, set out to build upon the Republican wave victories of 2014 by unanimously re-electing Susan Hutchison as Chairman.  Hutchison will serve a two-year term through January 2017.  “The Washington State Republican Party has worked harder and smarter than ever before to elect lawmakers who will serve our citizens – improving the daily lives of working families and setting them free from government policies that take away their freedoms, their finances and their children’s futures.  I was proud to lead our team through the 2014 elections and look forward to the 2016 cycle which will elect a Republican governor and president,” Chairman Hutchison said.

Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, in a luncheon keynote address, focused on the U.S. Constitution, balancing the federal budget, and a pro-growth agenda aimed at job creation and free market solutions.

In November’s elections, the GOP flipped four State House seats and one State Senate seat (Mark Miloscia in the 30th LD) from Democrat to Republican, while not losing a single seat the other way.  With Miloscia’s election, Republicans now have an outright majority in the State Senate.  And of the 59 GOP candidates who won election or re-election to the State Legislature, more than half did so with more than 60% of the vote.  And all three of the GOP congressional incumbents – Herrera Beutler, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, and Dave Reichert – were also returned to office with more than 60% of the vote.

The WSRP also re-elected Jim Walsh of Grays Harbor County as Vice Chairman, adopted organizational by-laws, and elected members to serve on its Executive Board for the next two years.
