WSRP To Reach 2 Million Washingtonians With TV Ad

BELLEVUE, WA, June 25 – The Washington State Republican Party issued the following press release:

WSRP announces it will reach two million Washingtonians across the state before June 30th with this 30 second TV spot asking voters to “Tell Jay” they don’t want him to shut down the government.  Click on the image below to view the ad:

“We want Jay Inslee’s Democrats to know that if they shut down the government, the voters of this state won’t forget,” says Susan Hutchison.  “The Democrats have been playing a game with taxpayer’s money, dragging their feet for two months and two special sessions to get to the date they can force a shutdown.  This is totally unacceptable to the people of our state.”

“On April 6th, the Senate passed a bi-partisan budget in time for the legislature to vote and go home.  This budget fully funds education as required by the McCleary decision, gives a much needed break to middle class families by cutting the cost of tuition, and fully funds vital government services.  All of this was possible without raising taxes because of increased tax revenues of 12 percent.  A bigger budget, with the right spending priorities, without raising taxes — what we call a ‘no-brainer’ — let’s pass it and go home!

“Instead, the Democrats controlling the House refuse to vote for any budget (even their own!).  The Governor and his fellow Democrats have demanded unnecessary tax increases including an unpopular capital gains income tax which would cost our state countless jobs and pave the way to a statewide income tax.  They have refused to cut tuition which has doubled in 10 years under their watch, and now they hope to shut down the government and blame it on Republicans.  Dragging their feet, and refusing to face the facts, Democrats have forced taxpayers to pony up millions for two special sessions.”

“The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Governor Jay Inslee,” Hutchison says, “he’s the governor who can’t govern.”

11th Hour #6 – Revenues To Nowhere

BELLEVUE, WA, June 24 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

I’ll let you in on the Democrats’ dirty little secret…

You may be wondering why the Democrats have dragged their feet through two special sessions, insisting on huge new taxes on top of the 12% increase in tax revenues that are part of the Senate GOP budget.  Common sense says a 12% budget increase is big enough, certainly more than most states can afford this year.  Why do the Democrats need so much that they’re willing to sit for 60 extra days in Olympia demanding more more more?

Here’s the secret … they made deals with their special interests which poured $millions into their election victories – and it’s time to pay up!

The WEA, Washington Extortion (oops, I mean Education) Association gets them elected, and expects big things in return.  Unions such as SEIU, AFSCME and other public employee unions tell their members to vote for Democrats, so that the elected Democrats will turn right around and negotiate pay raises and big benefits.  The Union bosses then take more money out of every worker’s paycheck.  Add on the perks for trial lawyers and radical environmentalists and you have 32 years of Democratic rule.  After our great victories this past November, see why the Dems are so desperate for more money to feed those special interests?

Republicans also have special interests: small businesses which provide most jobs, parents who want better schools, college students who want cheaper tuition, middle class taxpayers who haven’t had a raise in years and need a break from ever increasing taxes.  None of these special interests are organized like unions, the Trial Bar, or environmentalists.  That’s why we depend on your generosity to help us win.  $5, $10 or $20 adds up to give us the ability to hire staff, provide the tools and rally the voters so our side wins.  We depend on individuals like you.  CLICK HERE to donate $5, $10, $20, or more.

11th Hour #5 – GOP Cuts Tuition!

UPDATE: For the latest update, CLICK HERE

BELLEVUE, WA, June 24 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

What goes up, MUST come down!

Unlike a ball tossed in the air, unaffordable college tuition won’t come down without the steadfast efforts of our Republicans. College costs have doubled in the past decade under the Democrats.  But the GOP-led Senate budget reduces tuition by an average of 25%, providing much-needed relief for thousands of middle class families.  The Senate GOP budget still preserves funding for our universities by shifting budget priorities, and fully funds K-12 education – all without raising taxes!

But Governor Inslee’s Democrats refuse to cut the high cost of tuition and they are going to shut down government over this issue!

Let’s keep the pressure on the Democrats.  Tell them the ball is in their court now.  Call and/or email Governor Inslee and the Democrat legislators listed below to tell them: “Don’t shut down the government!  Cut tuition now!  Pass the Republican ‘no new taxes’ budget now!”

BELLEVUE, WA, June 23 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

Republican legislators in Olympia are courageously standing their ground.  They’re holding the line against the Democrats’ unnecessary capital gains income tax and they’re fighting for a long needed cut in college tuition costs.

While the GOP-led Senate passed its “no new taxes” budget on April 6, the Democrats have delayed for 78 days refusing to vote on their budget and forcing two unnecessary special legislative sessions – at great expense to the taxpayers.  It’s a political game to them and they don’t care what it costs, or how it hurts people in the real world.

We commend Republican legislators (and their staffs!) for their commitment for 6 months, making personal sacrifices – time away from their families and businesses.  My source in Olympia tells me the Republicans have prevailed because they work harder and smarter than the Democrats. This is an historic moment in our state legislature and we’ve got the best and brightest fighting for us.

But the battle is not over – Governor Jay Inslee and the Olympia Democrats are pushing towards a government shutdown as a last-ditch effort .

Help our lawmakers stay strong and courageous. Call or email the Republican legislators listed below to express your thanks and encouragement.  Tell them you support their “no new taxes” budget!

BELLEVUE, WA, June 23 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

Under the pressure of the budget deadline, Olympia Democrats are in disarray.

Governor Jay Inslee’s Democrats love unnecessary taxes, but on Friday, he announced that a capital gains income tax was “off the table.”  Yet on the same day, Democrat budget negotiator Rep. Reuven Carlyle tweeted he wants a capital gains income tax and even now, the State House Democrats’ top Twitter post supports a capital gains income tax, too.  Confusion reigns!

Jay Inslee’s Democrats especially favor a capital gains income tax, since it would make it easy to force a statewide income tax on the people of our state.  Note to Democrats: the voters of Washington have repeatedly – and resoundingly – rejected a state income tax.

While the Democrats send ominous mixed messages, the Republicans are united.  Their budget fully funds education with no new taxes.

Let’s keep the pressure on!  Call Governor Inslee and the Democrat legislators listed below to tell them: “Don’t shut down the government!  No cap gains income tax!  Pass the Republican ‘no new taxes’ budget now!”

BELLEVUE, WA, June 22 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

Dear common sense supporters:

The latest outrage from Jay Inslee’s Democrats is their new budget proposal cuts money that helps ensure our military members get their ballots and vote.  Only $2 million in a $39 billion budget – and they want it removed.  Time for the Democratic Party to change its name!  Keeping citizens from voting is not what democracy means.

Stop the nonsense in Olympia…

BELLEVUE, WA, June 22 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

At the eleventh hour of the second special session in Olympia, Governor Inslee and the Democrats are going to shut down state government.

The GOP-led State Senate finished its work on the budget on time, voting on April 6 to approve a budget that fully funds education and cuts college tuition by an average of 25% – without raising taxes!

The House Democrats today finally released their budget plan – a budget that blocks Republican efforts to reduce college tuition.

Elson Floyd, 1956-2015

BELLEVUE, WA, June 20 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

We mourn the loss of a friend to the Republican Party, Washington State University’s extraordinary president Elson Floyd.  Please read this tribute (below) from King County GOP State Committeeman Mathew Patrick Thomas, who knew Elson Floyd personally.  Our prayers are with his family and the entire WSU community.

“It is with a heavy heart today to learn of the passing of Washington State University President Elson S. Floyd due to complications related to colon cancer.   Michael C. Worthy Chairman of the WSU Board of Regents said it best, ‘Today or any other day, there has never been a more impactful president at WSU than Elson Floyd.’

“Elson Floyd, the first ever African-American President of Washington State University established the new WSU medical school, was the leadership behind the recent completion of a $1 billion capital campaign for the university, and was the guiding spirit behind WSU’s largest enrollment in its 125 year history.  His legacy will benefit the state, nation, and the world for generations to come.

“President Floyd cultivated bi-partisan support to gather the funding needed to establish the WSU Medical School this past year.  He also showed that he was a friend to the Washington State Republican Party by being a featured speaker at a Senate Majority Coalition fundraiser this past August in Bellevue.  All who were present that evening were impressed with his intellect as well as his statesmanship in the presence of our party’s leadership.

“Those who had the pleasure of meeting or being in the presence of Elson Floyd recognized he had the ability and drive to do even more for Washington State and that is what makes his loss even more profound.  The world lost a great man today.”

BELLEVUE, WA, June 8 – Susan Hutchison, the Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, issued the following email message:

This may be the most important email I have sent to you as Chairman of the State Party.

At this moment in Olympia, a defining clash is occurring between radicals and pragmatists, between those who promote dependency and those who promote hope.  GOVERNOR INSLEE, SPEAKER FRANK CHOPP, AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE WILLING TO SHUT DOWN STATE GOVERNMENT IN ORDER TO FORCE REPUBLICANS TO VOTE FOR A MASSIVE TAX INCREASE ON WORKING WASHINGTONIANS.

This is not a time for hand-wringing, but action.  For the future of our state, you must call the legislative hotline at (800) 562-6000 today.  Tell your legislators that rising revenue makes a tax increase unnecessary, and that you do not support the Democrats’ efforts to raise taxes.  Send a loud and clear message in support of the Republican budget – a balanced budget without raising taxes.

Please forward and share this message widely!
