Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah

WSRP Chairman Susan Hutchison sent out the following message on Friday December 23:

It was 35 years ago today that President Ronald Reagan provided this Christmas message to the country, almost a year after he had taken office.  Take three minutes and be blessed by his timeless words.  Click on the image below. And think ahead to a year from now, when President Trump will wish us a Merry Christmas from the White House!

The first night of Hanukkah and Christmas Eve coincide this year.  I want to wish all of you a beautiful week of celebration with your loved ones including family and friends.  Taking a break from work and the hectic holiday preparations gives us a chance to settle into the most important reason for the season — Emmanuel — God with us.

From the beloved carol, let’s pray for America that “All is calm, All is bright” this season.

Schoesler: Inslee’s budget would undermine families

Senate Majority Leader Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville, released the following statement in response Governor Inslee’s proposal for the 2017-2019 operating budget:

Olympia, December 14 – “The governor’s proposal ignores the constitutional requirement of a dependable funding source for public education by relying on a new and unproven tax on carbon and a highly volatile capital-gains income tax. It also ignores the requirement for a four-year balanced budget and adds nothing to our reserves, which we’ll need when the next recession hits. His plan threatens the stability of Washington’s economy and would undermine families.”

Hutchison Statement on Appointment of Rossi to Senate

Bellevue, December 6 – WSRP Chairman Susan Hutchison issued the following statement today:

“Congratulations to Dino Rossi, who has been selected to serve as State Senator from the 45th Legislative District.  Dino was the first choice of the PCOs in the district to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Andy Hill, and the King County Council approved the PCOs’ recommendation by a vote of 8-0.

“Dino previously served in the Senate for more than six years.  In the Senate, he became noted for his wide-ranging experience with budgeting and consensus-building.  When the GOP gained the Senate majority in 2002, he became Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and in that role led the successful effort for a budget that closed a huge deficit without raising taxes.

“The citizens of the 45th Legislative District and the State of Washington will be well served by State Senator Dino Rossi.”
