House Democrats Refuse to Bring HB 1363 Police Pursuit Bill to a Vote on the House Floor

BELLEVUE –Every single House Democrat rejected an opportunity to pass legislation that would allow police officers to pursue criminal suspects again. HB 1363 is a bipartisan solution to police pursuits supported by citizens, local governments, and businesses across our state that are frustrated at the increasing lawlessness taking place.

House Republicans made a procedural motion on the House floor today to bring HB 1363 to the House floor for a full debate and vote and this was unfortunately rejected by the House majority.

The Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) Chairman Caleb Heimlich released the following statement on the decision of House Democrats to kill this bipartisan legislation:

“It is a sad day when bipartisan legislation with massive community support is not even allowed to the floor for a vote because of blind partisanship. The Democrat majority created a public safety crisis with their action in 2021, and they only have until tomorrow to fix it. Voters want a return to bipartisan solution-oriented politics. Republicans are demonstrating a willingness to work across the aisle to promote good public policy, but sadly the Democrats remain unwilling to fix this mess.”
