Republicans Demand Democrats Again Return Money From Bigot JZ Knight

BELLEVUE, WA – On Tuesday evening, notorious cult leader JZ Knight held a fundraiser at her home in Yelm for Democrat Mary Hall, who is running for Thurston County Auditor. You can see a copy of the invitation here.

JZ Knight, made news last year when she defamed Catholics, Jews, gays and Mexicans, in a video that surfaced after she made a $70,000 donation to the Washington State Democratic Party. Following this embarrassing episode for the Democrats, party Chairman Dwight Pelz had to give the money to charity.

In light of this newly revealed association between JZ Knight and  Democrat Mary Hall, Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) Chair Susan Hutchison released the following statement:

“It is appalling that less than a year after Democrats were shamed by contributions from renowned bigot and racist JZ Knight, Democrat Mary Hall shows she has no scruples when it comes to campaign money.  Hall wants to be Thurston County’s next auditor, a job which requires fairness and impartiality in overseeing elections. Hall’s profound lack of judgment shows that voters can’t trust her to run her campaign, much less her county’s elections.

“Republicans call on Mary Hall to follow the lead of her Party Chairman and decline the money.  Otherwise voters must assume that Mary Hall shares the same bigoted views as the cult leader.”

WSRP Chair Susan Hutchison Honors Patriot Day

BELLEVUE, WA – Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) Chair Susan Hutchison released the following statement regarding Patriot Day:

“On the twelfth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania, we offer our comfort and prayers to the families of the 2,977 innocent victims who lost their lives that September morning.   We also honor the first responders who courageously rushed in to rescue those trapped in the World Trade Center before the twin towers collapsed.  Their selfless bravery saved thousands of lives and will forever define the best of the American character .

“Today is also a time to honor the men and women of our Armed Forces who have defended our freedom in wars in the Middle East for more than a decade.  We remain steadfastly grateful for their service to our country.  May we never forget those who have ‘laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.’  On this day and everyday may God bless America.”

Democrat Party Chases Out Sonntag

From Susan Hutchison, Washington State Republican Party Chair:

“Since my election to Chair of the WSRP I have declared that “my goal is to elect good Republicans to work with good Democrats to do good for the citizens of Washington State.

“For 20 years in public office, Brian Sonntag was one of those good Democrats.  But good Democrats are becoming scarce in our far left-wing Democratic party.  Their state Chair, Dwight Pelz has recently declared Sonntag unwelcome in his own party.

“As State Auditor, Sonntag was an effective watchdog over government spending and saved the taxpayers millions of dollars.  He is now retired from government service, but serves as Executive Director of Tacoma Rescue Mission which provides emergency services to the homeless.  He has also taken a part-time position with the think tank Evergreen Freedom Foundation (EFF) as a Senior Fellow for Government Accountability.

“Chairman Pelz made it clear to Sonntag that his party can not accept diverse views even from their most popular retired elected official.  Specifically the Democratic party objects to a US Supreme Court ruling in favor of the EFF against the use of some state teacher’s union dues for Democratic campaigns.  The Democrats are so beholden to union bosses to win elections, that they have closed their doors to open minded thinking about good government.

“The Washington State Democratic Party is becoming the party of intolerance, with a strict orthodoxy that few can truly embrace.  The Republican Party, on the other hand, is the party that welcomes all citizens who want government that serves the people. Our party is a patchwork quilt of opinions on a multitude of issues.  We welcome Brian and any other disaffected Democrats to join our efforts to ensure good government.”

Washington State Republicans Choose Dynamic New Leadership

Susan Hutchison Elected as Washington State Republican Party Chair

The Washington State Republican Party’s state committee members and county chairs voted Saturday to elect Susan Hutchison to be their next Chair by a strong majority vote of 59 to 46 on their second ballot, a decision that is being heralded as a step toward a more efficient and dynamic style of leadership. “My experience running for office in 2009, 25 years in media and 10 years working in the non-profit sector gives me the skills and experience needed for this job right now.  I am looking forward to helping the voters elect good Republicans to work with good Democrats to do good for the citizens of the state,” Hutchison said.

In the wake of her election, Hutchison received warm congratulations from both grassroots activists, party officials and Republican elected officeholders, a wave of unbridled optimism about the future of Republicans in Washington State.

U.S. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Spokane) offered her comments, saying:

“I’m excited by the election of Susan Hutchison to be State Party Chair. She gives me hope because she is a leader who will unify and present a positive vision for our party moving forward.  Susan is a tremendously talented communicator. She will bring dynamic leadership and organization to our efforts to elect freedom loving individuals in Washington State. I  am looking forward to working closely with her, to recruit the best possible candidates. She’s smart, experienced, talented, and articulate in the conservative cause.”

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn gave his own high praise:

“Susan will rebuild the Republican Party to its full strength just like Jennifer Dunn did when she was chair and we had a Republican Governor and majorities in the State House and Senate.”

Hutchison spent 20 years as an award winning news anchor at  KIRO-TV in Seattle, and for ten years has been Executive Director of the Charles and Lisa Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences.  In 2009 she won the primary for King County Executive.

Hutchison’s election fills the vacancy left by recently resigned Kirby Wilbur, a term in office that runs until January 2015. Attached to this release you will find a photograph for publication.
