BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement after Governor Inslee announced his latest Executive Order implementing strict gathering regulations heading into the Holiday season.

“Governor Inslee announced more regulations that will have severe mental health and financial consequences while offering no plan to supplement the inevitable government-caused damage. We need to protect livelihoods as well as lives and continuing to embark on a one-size-fits-all solution that prioritizes Seattle and King County is unsustainable.

What works for the tech industry, doesn’t work for everyone. Governor Inslee could seek consensus from the State Legislature, with representation from every corner of the state, instead he has issued sweeping unilateral mandates.

We have a severe budget shortfall, business owners and employees are again being thrown into uncertainty, and the governing body elected to represent our geographic and demographic differences has been sidelined by a Governor who is going at it alone. Republicans are ready and waiting – it’s time Inslee stops playing politics and does what’s right – call a special session.”

I am curious to know if the Governor can make an executive order without the vote of the legislature! This is the second time he has shut the state down. Our beautiful state and businesses and citizens are suffering while the governor is still getting paid. I would like a response about this if possible. People are getting fed up. Only our most vulnerable should be social distancing. Conservative doctors have said this by the thousands. Now we are being told how many people we can have in our own home which I think is a violation of ones civil rights to privacy! Valerie Fry
