PRESS RELEASE: INSLEE’S LATEST POSITION 180 HURTS WASHINGTONIANS

BELLEVUE – Chairman Caleb Heimlich released the following statement after Governor Inslee reversed his position on the liquified natural gas plant in Tacoma and a methanol production facility at Kalama.

“Governor Inslee is no stranger to grandstanding – and his most recent flip-flop is another example of how he is more concerned with pandering to democratic presidential primary voters across the country than representing the Washingtonians he is paid to serve. Just this year he referred to the Boeing tax cuts as a “mugging”, even though he praised the deal in 2013.  In 2012, he vowed to not sign any new taxes when running for Governor, only to advocate for and pass some of the largest tax increases in state history.”

“Now, his latest opportunistic attack on the liquified natural gas plant in Tacoma and a methanol production facility at Kalama comes four years after he ‘touted the project as a generator of family wage jobs’ and a ‘potential source of millions in local tax revenues.'”

“As he continues to poll at less than 1% nationally, Governor Inslee’s increasingly desperate campaign brings real costs to Washingtonians: a $4 million bill for his personal security and now his vocal opposition to projects beneficial to our economy.”
