BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement in regards to Island County Commissioner Helen Price Johnson’s failure to recuse herself from the 10th legislative district Senate seat appointment.

“Commissioner Price Johnson is putting politics ahead of her community by refusing to recuse herself in the appointment process for the 10th legislative district after publicly declaring her intent to run for the seat in 2020.”

“Commissioner Price Johnson should remove any and all doubt of dubious or unethical behavior and recuse herself from the appointment process, or step down from her seat as an Island County Commissioner. Commissioner Price Johnson is trying to choose who her opponent will be in the 2020 election – that is corrupt. That is why I am calling on Helen Price Johnson to recuse herself from the appointment process of the 10th legislative district Senate seat to allow for a fair and open selection.”
