SUPREME COURT JUSTICES SHOW A LACK OF JUDGMENT

BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement after four Washington Supreme Court Justices voted in favor of the ‘release of thousands of people from Washington prisons.’

“Washington residents should be extremely concerned with the dissenting opinion to approve the release of dangerous prisoners led by Justice Steven Gonzalez and signed by Justices Mary Yu, Sheryl Gordon McCloud and Raquel Montoya-Lewis.

This opinion shows a complete lack of judgment by these Justices. The court nearly decided to open the doors and release serial killers like The Green River Killer, Gary Ridgeway, and former death row inmates like Byron Scherf. This was irresponsible, dangerous, and blatantly disrespectful to those who take solace in knowing these people are behind bars where they belong.

Unfortunately, Governor Inslee appointed two of the justices who showed a complete lack of judgment. Washingtonians deserve a court that prioritizes the law, not activists who prioritize their radical, reckless liberal ideology.”
