WSRP Responds to Negative Q2 GDP Growth

BELLEVUE – The Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) released the following statement regarding the US Bureau of Economics’ newly released Gross Domestic Product numbers for the second quarter of 2022.

Newly released figures from the US Bureau of Economics show a second consecutive quarter of negative economic growth at 0.9%, following a 1.6% contraction in the first quarter of the year. Based on the commonly used definition of the word: “a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters,” we are officially in a recession.

The Biden Administration has, for political reasons, decided to declare that we are not in a recession. This kind of gaslighting and lying has become a common feature of the Biden administration. Americans of all backgrounds are struggling, and while unemployment remains low, more and more Americans are leaving the workforce than ever before, and those remaining have lost, on average, nearly $3,400 in annual wages due to Bidenflation. Biden’s economy is increasing economic inequality in America.

“This administration is incredibly dishonest, Chairman Caleb Heimlich said. “When the price of gas goes down, President Biden and the Democrats all take a victory lap, but when the prices go up, they tell you that the President doesn’t control the price of gas – and then go on to blame gas and oil CEOs for the rising prices; despite canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline, holding back new drilling permits, and halting lease sales on Federal lands. The Biden administration and their Democrat allies in Congress including Kim Schrier and Patty Murray will be held accountable by the voters in November.”

Republicans repeatedly warned Democrats and this Administration that unbridled spending would lead to runaway inflation. The American people need pro-active and common-sense leadership and this is why many are switching parties and identifying as Republicans, and why they will overwhelmingly send Republicans to victory in November.
