WSRP Statement On Afghanistan

BELLEVUE — The Washington State Republican Party’s (WSRP) Chairman Caleb Heimlich today, called for Governor Inslee to give much-needed asylum to our allies that fought side by side with American Armed Forces in Afghanistan and whose lives are now in jeopardy due to the fall of Kabul because of President Biden’s incompetence.

“President Joe Biden has completely failed as Commander-in-Chief and bungled the U.S. Military withdrawal from Afghanistan. It is even more appalling that he tried to avoid publicly addressing this disaster by hiding out at Camp David. As this crisis of leadership plays out on the world stage we need to act fast to prevent more loss of life. Governor Jay Inslee should follow in the footsteps of former three term Washington State Republican Governor Dan Evans who granted asylum to thousands of displaced Vietnamese who fled their country following the fall of Saigon in 1975. We call on Governor Inslee to make the same offer to the Biden Administration and bring those who worked directly with us and our allies in Afghanistan, who are literally marked for death, to safety in our state. Due to Biden’s failure this is the only option left to save the heroes that helped protect and support our troops for all these years.”
