WSRP STATEMENT ON RECENT SHOOTINGS IN SEATTLE

BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement regarding Democrats’ response to the most recent shootings in Seattle.

“While Washingtonians are reeling from the tragic culmination of lawlessness and deliberate disregard for public safety in Seattle, a chorus of Democrats are predictably calling for increased gun control in an attempt to divert the conversation away from the dire consequences of their own policies.”

“The lack of law and order in Seattle and King County is a direct correlation to their failed leadership – and it’s an insult to the intelligence of every citizen of this state to imply that this is a gun control problem. Mayor Durkan, Executive Constantine, and other Seattle officials refuse to enforce laws, prosecute crimes, or deal with repeat offenders. With more than 65 combined arrests, the named suspects should have been in jail, but they weren’t.”

“Just two months ago, a King County judge closed the courthouse’s Third street entrance, the same street this most recent incident occurred at, “citing safety concerns,” and now one person is dead and seven others injured.”

“Democrats have shown their true colors with this gross political opportunism. The people of Washington state deserve elected officials who care about reality and results, not reckless ideologues who turn a blind eye to facts in favor of shamelessly furthering their political careers.”
