BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement regarding the upcoming Presidential Primary in Washington State.

“The Washington State Republican Party has submitted the required documentation to the Secretary of State’s office certifying President Donald Trump as the only candidate to appear on the March 10 Republican Presidential Primary ballot. President Trump was the only candidate to receive the required amount of support to qualify for the ballot.”

“We are excited for an early Presidential primary election in Washington state this year, as it will give Washingtonians a larger voice in the primary process and we anticipate strong support for President Trump going into the 2020 election.”

As a Republican who supports Trump, it is offensive that my party refuses to provide a choice in the presidential primary election AND conditioned access to the state’s ballot to a $12,000 donation. How are we going to grow the party with this kind of backroom bullshit? Placing the challengers on the ballot would have demonstrated that we are an open party, that Trump has nothing to fear and his vote totals would have demonstrated his true level of support. Now, all we are left with his a Soviet style election where 100% of the vote is meaningless.

I do not support Trump because Of the way he treats people. It’s unfortunate, as a Republican, that I will not make a vote for the first time since I was 18. This is my America now.
