BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement after House Democrats elected Rep. Laurie Jinkins as the next Speaker of the State House of Representatives.

“While it’s nice to see Democrats follow the footsteps of the Senate Republican Caucus led by Jeannette Hayner nearly 40 years ago, it should come as no surprise that Laurie Jinkins was elected Speaker of the Democrats’ radical caucus. Her track record of supporting far-left policies makes Frank Chopp look like a moderate. Government-run healthcare, reckless government spending, and outrageous tax increases on hardworking Washingtonian falls right in line with Governor Inslee, AG Ferguson, and the rest of the Democrats’ steadfast movement towards socialism.”

“After this last legislative session, voters saw just how condescending and dismissive Democrats are, and this election is more of the same. Taxpayers want to see common-sense policies that solve the problems in our communities. Someone that will put Washington first, not another career politician looking for their next move.”
