BELLEVUE – Chairman Heimlich released the following statement after recent news of Washington State being scammed out of $650 million to $1 billion by a Nigerian fraud scheme.

“Why aren’t Democrats holding Employment Security Department Commissioner Suzi LeVine accountable after her office left us vulnerable and ultimately scammed out of up to $1 BILLION dollars in taxpayer money?

Commissioner LeVine, and her husband Eric, donated more than $50,000 to Jay Inslee, Bob Ferguson, and Democratic state legislators. Now they’re all looking the other way while the people of Washington State are hurting. The incompetence by the Inslee administration and their lack of accountability is disgraceful.

Even Oregon Governor Kate Brown demanded accountability and fired their state employment director and their problems paled in comparison to Washington’s.

It’s time for accountability in state government. It’s time for new leadership.”
